Our vision is a cooler, healthier Las Vegas where native shade trees and water‑wise gardens make desert living sustainable for all.

Plant and maintain native, water‑saving trees across neighborhoods, parks and community campuses.

Goals

Restore urban habitat (healthy soils, biodiversity) and deliver shade equity for lower‑income blocks.

Education

Offer 90‑minute workshops on species selection, smart drip irrigation and soil care for residents & volunteers.

Social Value

Lower urban heat, save water, and improve air quality while creating green spaces for children and seniors.

Target Groups

Heat‑exposed neighborhoods in Las Vegas; families with limited shade; local volunteers and partner businesses.

Impact Reporting

Quarterly updates with costs, planted sites, survival rates at 4–12–18 months, and before/after photos.

Core Activities

Seasonal Planting

Site surveys and planting maps; native species selection (mayten, mesquite, desert willow). We commit to 12–18 months of establishment care.

Smart Care

Drip irrigation and organic mulching to retain moisture and reduce water use while improving soil health.

Community Gardens

Model “Desert Green” plots at community centers and shared school yards for replication across districts.

Training

Hands‑on sessions for the “Plant & Care” teams and neighbors to build long‑term stewardship.

Upcoming Event — Desert Planting Day 2026

Month: March 2026 • Location: Springs Preserve, Las Vegas, NV

What will happen

  • 500 native trees planted with 200 drip kits installed.
  • Shade expansion over ~2 hectares of public land.
  • Live training, neighbor engagement, and before/after documentation.

Preparation Plan

Jan 2026 Site survey, species selection, planting map.
Feb 2026 Volunteer recruitment & training; tools, drip kits and mulch ready.
Early Mar 2026 Deliver trees & supplies; mark planting spots.
Event Day Opening, team planting, drip install, live comms & photo capture.
Post‑event 12–18 months of care; progress and survival reporting.

Projected Impact

  • ~1,200 neighboring households gain shade access.
  • ~20,000 m² of new green canopy area.
  • Average surface temperature drop of 2–3°C at planted blocks.
  • ~5 million liters of water saved annually via native species + drip irrigation.
  • Higher biodiversity: more pollinators and urban wildlife habitat.
